LC Soccer in action versus FC College
Our second day began very early with breakfast in preparation for our first match in Costa Rica against the FC College team. The stadium was an impressive one for a local club team. The field was hot and the spirits were high for both teams. The Loomis squad combined with some local Costa Rican players and came out flying with the 1-0 lead in the first half thanks to a wonder strike from Kyle Douglas '15 (it was his birthday). When all was said and done, the score was 3-2 in favor of FC College, but it was a great match nonetheless. Following the match and some group pictures and hopeful conversation with a local goalie (Gomer was killing it, while Garrito had a VALIANT effort), who will be playing with us for the remainder of the trip, we enjoyed a glorious rest before hopping back on the bus to a local elementary school. Although we were exhausted and faced a seemingly insurmountable language barrier, the excitement of the children rejuvenated our energy. We hosted a practice with the niños and, after losing a 26 v 18 full field (40x60) war against the children of the school by a score of 6-0. we made some great friends and memories to last a lifetime. They loved us. Then we took a quick hop on over to the super market to get a taste of the local eats, and by eats we mean oreos….. and chips…... and donuts. Wearing our new vibrant, to say the least, neon yellow FC Tours gear, we were the hot topic of discussion for probably everyone in the store. We loved it. After a long day, we ended the day with some delicious pizza in hopes of trying to become more localized. We are getting ready for some paintball and welts. Sooooooo we will be back tomorrow. LC Footy afuera.
